Can someone explain to me in very very basic terms why planes, kites and hot air balloons fly? Akira won't let it go and I wouldn't have a clue. Do you know yet dad? Do you know yet dad? Do you know yet dad? Poor kid.

  1. First up I'm an accountant, and don't have any kids, so if this doesn't work sorry:

OK it's summer there in Sydney, so head to a pool, and get your kid to be in the pool with you. That's easy, now make as if your hand is the wing of a plane and glide it through the water... now turn the hand to make it go up and down! you are then going to have to tell your kid that a plane can only stay in the air because in goes very fast and the wings are very big.
next a hot air balloon: do you ever have a fire? ok a candal will do. so I take it your kid nows fire is hot!!! so put your had over the flame!!! it will be hot, then put it next to the flame, the same distance away from the flame... which is hotter, the hand on top, why, well the hot air is going up, and so it pushes the balloon up.
Last one a kit. find a feather, and get you kid to blow under it, then tell thm that is what the wind does to the kit...

I like you session, stamina is coming on nicely, now work on that last 200m!!!!

  2. Thanks Dion, that even makes sense to me so I'm sure he'll understand, give up counting money and become a teacher.
