800m-1:58.63 (6th in heat 2) NSW Champs SOPAC

Gave it a shot, hung on to the leaders 57.85 through the bell, 87 low at 600m and felt great but died an ugly death in the home straight. Shit conditions as usual.

Happy enough, I followed the plan to the letter but nothing to show for all the hard work so the plan needs adjusting. Next year I'll do significantly more aerobic work right up until the final racing block. I'm stuffed, taking a break, see you all next season.

  1. Great to watch, brave race and the crowd favourite as always. "Go Daddy", "Go Gary", "Go T-I-G-E-R", that's all that could be heard from the stands.

You are 13 years older than the oldest of the 17 athletes who finished in front of you, I'm proud of you mate.

  2. Thanks mate, I loved hearing the support. That's 13 years more to accumulate supporters and 13 more years of base fitness, but I still can't beat 'em...YET!

  3. Well done on your season Gary - some very consistent times in very ordinary weather conditions almost every race. Promise I'll get back on the track soon and help you run down the youngsters (and our old PBs)

  5. Sub 2 again Congrats love to see what you can run for 15 and 3, all that mileage surely should help sustain you to low 4:00 and sub 9:00.

  6. Thanks Dave, I would like a sub 4 and sub 9 but it'd take alot of specific work at the cost of 800m preparation. I'm greedy but I can't have everything, small sacrifice.
